RU a Planner connects high school students with professional planners and planning graduate students to talk about the importance of planning in their communities. It is a joint initiative between Ryerson University Master of Planning students and the City of Toronto. RU a Planner runs during the week of World Town Planning Day and contributes to the global promotion of the planning profession. High school students across the city hear presentations by professional planners, participate in groups to solve a mock planning problem and engage in discussion about how to get involved in the local planning process. The aim is to spark an interest in planning and equip youth with the tools and confidence needed to participate in city building.
