Ryerson Community Services Society Presents: FCS Lecture Series

The FCS lecture series is an interdisciplinary event for all students (undergraduate and graduate) studying in a program in the Faculty of Community Services and also has something for all students from all programs at Ryerson University! All Ryerson students are invited to our panel discussions and workshops, free of charge which also includes free food/refreshments!

Thursday, February 27th: Technology + the Digital World
Lecture: Existing & New Technology in the Workplace Panel
Time: 6:00pm-7:30pm
Location: 288 Church St, Toronto, ON M5B 1Z5, Daphne Cockwell Complex 3rd floor, room DCC 352

About:
Come learn about existing technology used in the workplace today and learn about new technology that is to be implemented in the workplace. Technology impacts the way professionals conduct their work in the workplace, as we enter into the new decade, come learn how technology will impact the workplace and to serve the wants/needs of consumers/businesses. There will be 3-4 speakers, where each speaker will give a presentation on the topic and later the floor will be open to guests for discussion

Friday, February 28th: Experiential Learning

Lecture Option 1: Public vs. Private Sector Panel Discussion
Time: 6:00pm-7:30pm
Location: 288 Church St, Toronto, ON M5B 1Z5, Daphne Cockwell Complex 2nd floor, room DCC 208

About:
Students will be introduced to professionals who have worked in both the private sector or for a not-for-project organization, and public sector. Students will get to hear from professionals in their field of study, in what it is like to work in the private and public sector. The goal of this panel discussion is to give insight to students on what it is like to work in both private and public practise. It will also help them in making an informed decision in the sector they wish to work in once they graduate from their respective program of study. Students will get a chance to ask questions and connect with professionals in their fields, on their experience in both private and public practise. Q&A with the panelists will be at the end of the panel discussion.

Lecture Option 2: Field Placement Info Panel
Time: 6:00pm-7:30pm

About:
Come learn about the benefits of doing an internship or field placement in helping you to advance your career. Speak with FCS Career Specialists from the Ryerson Career & Co-op Centre and other professionals in the field. There will first be a panel discussion on the benefits of doing co-curricular work alongside your program of study and field placement or an internship followed by individual tabling sessions, where attendees will get to talk to the panelists to learn more.
