BHUTILA KARPOCHE
Elevate

Bhutila Karpoche is a PhD student in the Policy Studies program. As Deputy Chairperson Education of the Graduate Committee, Bhutila advocated for an increased graduate committee budget, specifically an increase in funding for travel grants for graduate students to support academic conference participation. She has also advocated for greater autonomy of the graduate committee given that graduate students' experiences and educational needs are different from undergraduates. As Chair, Bhutila plans to ensure graduate students priorities are a key part of the RSU agenda.  On February 6, 7 and 8, VOTE Bhutila Karpoche and all of TEAM ELEVATE! voteelevate.ca

Cristina Mazza

CRISTINA MAZZA
Rhinoceros Party

Cristina is a Master of Science in Management student. While fairly new to Ryerson, she is no stranger to academic advocacy. During her undergraduate at UOIT, she was the Engineering Society president, where she addressed student concerns on a variety of issues related to education, and learned about academic representation on a national scale. Currently, she’s participating in the Ryerson Professional Development in Teaching Program to gain a new perspective on post-secondary education, especially in regards to diversity and inclusion, academic accommodation support, and improving teaching techniques. She is hoping to see a shift in student representation away from bureaucracy and self-interests, and addressing issues in education by focusing on graduate student issues overall, and on a faculty-by-faculty basis.

Samson Romero

SAMSON ROMERO
Elevate

I’m Samson Romero and I am running for the position of Deputy Chairperson Student Life & Events. I am currently in the Master of Social Work graduate program and I have a strong professional background in working with various communities as a social worker. Communication is important and the lack of communication from RSU to graduate students is concerning. If elected I will strive to ensure that there is an increase in outreach about RSU events and services to graduate students. Additionally, I will work with our graduate council to create accessible events and services that cater to graduate students and their limited schedules.  Only through communication and working together can we create an RSU that is accountable, equitable and transparent for all of its members. On February 6, 7 and 8, vote Samson Romero and all of TEAM ELEVATE!
