** NEW IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE TTC METROPASS FOR FALL 2010**

The Student Metropass is HERE!

In the Winter of 2010, students won a historic victory. Students' Unions and the CFS successfully lobbied the Toronto Transit Commission and secured a Student Metropass, giving University and College students the same discount offered to high school students. Beginning with the September 2010 Metropass, full-time and part-time students enrolled in a diploma or degree granting program will be able to purchase a Student Metropass for only 99.00 (ninety-nine) - a savings of 22.00 (twenty-two)!

The Student Metropass can be purchased at the Member Services Office. This pass is transferrable to other college and university students with a valid TTC Photo I.D. only.

What you need: TTC issued photo I.D. card

You must show this card every time you use the Student Metropass. The Student Metropass will only be valid when accompanied with a TTC photo I.D. card.

How to get the TTC Photo I.D. Card

The TTC Photo I.D. Cards will be available for an annual charge of $7.00. You can purchased this with cash or debit in the Student Centre from August 30th to September 2nd, and September 7th and 8th, from 11 am - 7 pm. Please bring your Ryerson One Card as proof of your enrollment in order to get the TTC Photo I.D. Card.

The TTC will also offer the post-secondary TTC Student Photo I.D. Cards at Sherbourne Station starting in late August (you must bring proof of enrollment, including a valid Ryerson Student Card, Offer of Admission, or other proof of enrollment such as a timetable printed from RAMSS, along with photo I.D.).

FOR FASTEST SERVICE please register online and bring the print-out with you to the Student Centre.  You will also be able to register at the Student Centre on distribution days.

The Transferrable Metropass

The Transferrable Metropass is available for $107.00 to all current members of the Ryerson Community (students, staff and faculty) with a valid Ryerson OneCard.

This pass is transferable and does not require a TTC issued photo I.D. card. Only one pass may be purchased per person member per month - no exceptions. The Students' Union brings students, faculty and staff at Ryerson more affordable TTC travel through the Transferrable Metropass! Remember, cash or debit only.

The RSU is proud to offer this option to meet different needs for transit.

HOW RSU WON THESE DISCOUNTS

The RSU's Discount TTC Pass is the end product of a sustained campaign by the RSU and other students' unions across the GTA highlighting our need for more affordable public transit. Students working together do make a difference! Students now save more money because the TTC has agreed to allow all university and college students to purchase the student-rate discount pass.

How much do I save?

Both Metropasses are available from the Member Services Office and offer a discounted savings from the usual adult Metropass. The Student Metropass, tranferrable to other students with a TTC Photo I.D. Card, saves you $22.00, while the Transferable Metropass, available to all Ryerson community members, saves you $14.00 a month!

When can I buy the pass?

The Student Metropass is available starting the 25th of each month, while supplies last.

You can purchase the Transferrable Metropass 10 days before and 10 days after the start of the month, unless we sell out. For example, an October Metropass will be available between September 20th and October 10th.

The Students' Union encourages you to beat the line up around the end of the month by coming early!

Can I buy the pass a month at a time?

Not only is the Transferrable metropass cheaper than the usual adult Metropass, it provides more flexibility. You can purchase the metropass a month at a time and don't have to sign up for a whole 12 months program.

If you are currently on a Metropass Discount Program with the TTC you can cancel out of that plan for no penalty and start buying the Transferrable Metropass each month. To cancel out of the Metropass Discount Plan, call the TTC at (416) 397-8827.

Visit the TTC's website for information on routes and schedules.
