Community Service Groups

The Students' Union is committed to building a community that fosters and embraces equity and acceptance for all our members; to do this, the RSU works to break down barriers by educating the community about our prejudices and working to put an end to discrimination. The RSU recognizes that groups among our membership - women, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender students, poor & impoverished students, students with disabilities, students of colour and student workers - are marginalized on campus and in our society.

To overcome this marginalization, the Students' Union created five equity based groups known as the Community Service Groups and established permanent resources to advocate on equity issues.

The five Community Service Groups are:

All five Community Service Groups organize and support progressive social change for students and work to meet the advocacy and social needs of students to build a healthier, more inclusive Ryerson community. The groups all operate from an anti-oppression framework and consider issues of race, gender, class, sexuality and ability when organizing events and campaigns.

Each Group Offers:

  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Events
  • Campaigns
  • Referrals
  • Advocacy for students & social justice issues
  • Education & resources, including a book/video lending library
