OVERVIEW:
Eligibility & Enrolment
As a full-time student registered at Ryerson University, you are automatically covered by the Members' Health and Dental Plan. The Plan provides protection and security for eligible students, minimizing the affects of injury or ailments.
The Members' Health and Dental Plan is an important service that the Students' Union provides to its members. Voting in several referenda students democratically identified this service as a priority.
You are eligible for this insurance coverage provided you meet the eligibility enrolment criteria:
You are a full-time member of the Ryerson Students' Union enrolled in either an undergraduate or graduate programme. Part-time graduate members are not eligible.
* Full-time status is determined by your program status, not the number of courses you are enrolled in. If you are unsure about whether or not you qualify, you can refer to your Academic Calendar or verify your status with the fees online.
Coverage Period:
For eligible students starting in the Fall semester, coverage begins September 1st and ends August 31st. For eligible students starting in the Winter semester, coverage begins January 1st and ends August 31st.
Fees and Premiums - $ 290.00 (two hundred and ninety dollars) for Fall enrollment
For the 2010-11 academic year, the health and dental plan fees are automatically charged along with your tuition fees and appear as a separate charge on your Ryerson fees statement. Students beginning full-time studies in January will be assessed a pro-rated fee based on their reduced coverage term.
Adding Coverage for Family Members:
Students who wish to Add-On dependents (spouse, common-law partner or children) to the Plan can do so by paying the additional fee. You must complete a separate form at the Member Services Office with all necessary information. Fall deadline to enroll a dependent is Friday October 8, 2010, and for students who begin enrollment in the Winter term the deadline is Friday February 4, 2011.
