Starting A New Group

If you are interested in starting a new group it is best to come to the RSU's main office, third floor of the Student Centre - 55 Gould St. SCC311, to speak with the Vice-President Student Life and Events, email: vp.life@rsuonline.ca or the Campus Groups Coordinator, email:campusgroups@rsuonline.ca 

All new groups must complete an application form accompanied by a list of potential members and/or students that support the formation of the group, a list of Executive members accompanied with contact information, a constitution, and a list of activities/events and statement of purpose. Here are the items you need to submit to form a new group:

  1. Executive Signing Officers list - need 3 signing officers
  2. Members Sign Up sheet- at least 20 full time students
  3. Constitution - see sample, cannot change any wording in RED
  4. Cover letter outlining at least 5 activities planned for the year

This information is then reviewed by the Student Groups Committee who makes a recomendation for approval to the Board of Directors. The groups application is then submitted for review, discussion and approval at an RSU Board of Directors meetings.

NOTE: The RSU's Board only meets once a month and as such the approval process for new groups takes a minimum of five weeks.

Representatives of the new group will be asked to present to both the Student Groups committee and to the RSU Board of Directors. For more information please come to the RSU SCC311 in the Student Centre or contact:
