MEDLIFE is a global nonprofit organization with the goal of empowering the poor in their fight for equal access to healthcare, education, and a safe community. The Ryerson chapter of MEDLIFE provides opportunities for students to volunteer abroad on service learning trips (SLTs) and gain insight into the realities of extreme poverty. On the SLTs, students also have opportunities to personally connect with the communities, assist in providing basic healthcare, and construct safe public spaces for the community. MEDLIFE also seeks to empower students to make a difference as we are one of over 190 university and high school chapters. As the MEDLIFE Ryerson chapter, we plan fundraising events, participate in activities, collaborate with other MEDLIFE chapters, and explore local volunteer opportunities within the community.

This winter, MEDLIFE Ryerson, alongside the Chapters at Mcgill, Waterloo, uOttawa, and University of Toronto, will be travelling to Lima, Peru from December 28th – January 5th. This is truly an unmatched opportunity for experiential learning for all students, and offers the chance for expansion of their cultural context and cultural sensitivities.
